ABOUT US

Founded in 2005 by Corneliu Dumitriu, citygallery was born from the artist’s vision of keeping art alive beyond the canvas. Today, we are devoted mainly to preserving and celebrating his work — curating exhibitions, safeguarding an accessible archive, and working with collectors and cultural institutions to share his creations with the world.

THE ARTIST

Corneliu Dumitriu (1954–2022) was a Romanian painter celebrated for his vibrant use of color, layered textures, and ability to transform familiar subjects — from flowers and landscapes to animals and abstract forms — into poetic, timeless images. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he held over 40 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows in cities including Bucharest, Frankfurt, New York, Iași, Piatra Neamț, and Venice. His work earned him multiple national awards for painting, as well as recognition from art institutions and collectors in Romania and abroad.
